Freaky Lips Art by Sandra Holmbom #design #art

There should be quite a bunch of horror movie makers who’d want to hire 26-year-old Sandra Holmbom from Sweden. Her latest project is a bizarre third eye that leaves you confused and unsure whether it’s an eye or lips you’re looking at. To make the detailed painting even more realistic, Sandra, aka Psychosandra, even attached fake eyelashes to her upper lip.

“I thought it was a long time since I did something with my lips. Wanted to do  something weird, yes, I can say that it is weird. But pretty, it’s not, but I  had fun anyway,” says Sandra. You’ll fing more of her bizarre artwork, if you dare to check!

760 Stacked Bicycles by Ai Weiwei #design #art

In order to address the problem of over consumption, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei created a giant bicycle installation made of 760 individual bikes. The artist chose bicycles as a symbol of mass production – quite understandably, as they are the most popular means of transportation among the workers of China. Besides representing over consumption, the chain and sprocket mechanism of the bicycles also symbolizes the matrix of the main power of the country: its labor force, its people.

The installation is currently being exhibited in San Gimignano’s Galleria Continua, Italy, through February 16.

DESIGN Marketing Mini by Access Agency #marketing #mini #design

What a cool ride so far!

The Cool Hunter was born seven years ago. I never thought it would lead to what we have today.

It started as a newspaper column and, surprisingly, grew quickly into a globally syndicated column.

melbourne-based architecture practice march studio has shared with us images of ‘baker d. chirico’,
an interior project for a new branch of the artisanal bakery in carlton, australia. seeking to stay simple
and true to the product, the design features an undulating CNC-routed plywood form that lends
a dynamic sense of space to the narrow shop in addition to providing shelving for the bread.

exhibiting a limited street face, the store’s facade maximizes on the level of visual communication by
a floor-to-ceiling stretch of glazing. the interior space is projected onto the street, conveying the shop’s
program and activity in a transparent fashion. the sculptural treatment of the bakery serves as
an aesthetic marker, resulting in a design with a distinct identity on the street.

Bangkok University Branding Itself As A Creative University #design #arquitectura #architecture #fotographic

We love the way Bangkok University has been branding itself as a Creative University during the past few years. One method they have chosen to do this is to re-imagine and re-allocate the space so that the students will want to spend time on the campus, not just studying but enjoying themselves.

As before the university retained Bangkok’s Supermachine Studio, led by Pitupong (Jack) Chaowakul, to create the Student Lounge (formerly allocated for teachers) at the Rangsit Campus, located north of Bangkok.

Piccino Kids Wear Boutique in Valencia, Spain #design #arquitectura #architecture #fotographic

We don’t often come across projects to feature in Valencia, although the ancient city is the third-largest in Spain. So, we were particularly excited to discover the new cool kids wear boutique, Piccino, that opened at Trafalgar 52 this month.

Piccino (Italian for “kids”) is the first retail shop of the family-owned company that offers reasonably priced Italian children’s fashions including Brums and Bimbus.

Valencia’s Masquespacio, also known as +Quespacio, lead by Ana Milena Hernández Palacios, was in charge of both interior design and graphics for this beautiful 38 square-meter (409 square feet) gift-box-of-a-store.

This store reminds us a bit of the Candy Room in Melbourne by the Red Design Group.

Yoobi Sushi in London #design #arquitectura #fotografia #architecture #fotographic

Yoobi Sushi, London’s first temakeria, opened last month on Lexington Street in Soho. Its interior design is an exercise in constraint that has produced a statement of clean minimalism at its best.

Temaki is fresh sushi wrapped in a cone. It is a take-out or eat-in variety of sushi that was born in Brazil where the largest Japanese population outside Japan resides.

London-based Gundry & Ducker Architecture Ltd. stripped the former warehouse back to its original brick and painted the walls dark steel-gray.

The designers were challenged to combine the vibes of Rio, Tokyo and London, and to reflect the Yoobi brand’s color palette created by Ico Design.

Basque Culinary Center #design #fotografia #cocina #arquitectura
