A portfolio by Erik Johansson, photographer and retoucher from Sweden, must be one of the strongest contemporary examples of fine retouching. Erik creates incredible fantasy worlds that are at the same time wildly surreal photo, yet so masterfully done that you almost start believing them: “Although one photo can consist hundreds of layers I always want it to look like it could have been captured,” he says. Brilliant work!

Hola.

Canadian artist, known by his Roadsworth nickname, creates witty street art around Montreal that are more than just mere attempts to liven up the public space. It started as his manifesto in support for more bicycle lanes and respect for cyclists in 2001, and even had the guy arrested in 2004. Luckily, due to strong public support, Roadsworth was released. Since then the artist has been receiving numerous commissions for his work and continued to draw attention to bicycle lanes by applying his creative stencils.
With seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. While the plain numbers may not sound too intriguing, the pictures look absolutely mind-blowing. In his ‘Architecture of Density’ photo series, German photographer Michael Wolf explores the incredible urban landscapes of Hong Kong.
Stripped of all outer context like sky or ground, his photos only show fragments of massive blocks of flats, both crumbling or still in construction. The way their monotone and repetitive details occupy the whole frame is mesmerizing, and makes you think about all the walls we build around ourselves.

Waking up at 4 am and daily trips 1.358 feet (414 m) up is nothing, if you know that you’ll be snapping a city in the clouds – this is how the days of a German photographer Sebastian Opitz would start in Dubai. From the 85th floor of the Princess Tower in Dubai, he created his breath-taking Cloud City photo series, with the skyscrapers piercing through the clouds and morning fog, which is rare in these places.
“By 9 a.m. the fog will have evaporated, so rising early is crucial,” says Sebastian. It also takes a lot of dedication and a good portion of luck. The result will surely leave you in awe!
